CIRCALGAE

The main objective of the project is the integral biomass valorisation of industrially relevant macro- and microalgal waste streams into food, feed and cosmetic ingredients, creating a sustainable biorefinery concept. Through the exploitation of specific effluents and recalcitrant sources that are currently discarded by algae industries as low value applications, such as fertilizers, we will influence the European blue economy of the future. CIRCALGAE will in this way impact the whole algae producing sector, including harvesting and cultivating, as well as the food, feed and cosmetic sectors, while closing the gap between both sectors through co-creation and co-learning, involving all social, economic and environmentally related aspects
